DNV GL and Aker BP successfully perform remote surveys of offshore cranes as demand for distanced inspections accelerates

DNV GL led a pilot project with Aker BP to remotely perform inspections on three of their offshore cranes on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. In line with Aker BP鈥檚 strategy of minimizing its operational carbon footprint, DNV GL performed remote safety inspections of one box boom pedestal crane on the Valhall Flank West and two knuckle boom cranes on the Skarv field, both as part of annual surveys.

Open Simulation Platform project releases results and announces transition to ongoing open-source community

At a recent online webinar, the Open Simulation Platform (OSP) joint industry project (JIP) announced the results of its two-year project run and the intention to transition into an open source community. The project, which attracted some twenty partners, including founding participants DNV GL, Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine (now Kongsberg Maritime CM), SINTEF, and NTNU, was focussed on the co-simulation of maritime equipment, systems and ships, with the goal of enabling cross-organizational collaboration.

DNV GL, TCM and SINTEF join forces in major international carbon capture and storage partnership

Three international organizations specializing in technology research, testing, advisory services, and standardization have joined forces to find new ways to accelerate the adoption of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technology in emissions-heavy industries. DNV GL, SINTEF and Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM) have signed a memorandum of understanding to further develop carbon capture, utilization and storage technologies to make full-scale CCS a reality globally.

DNV GL supports Mission to Seafarers Flying Angel Campaign

In recognition of the ongoing crisis affecting seafarers during the COVID-19 pandemic, DNV GL has joined the Mission to Seafarers Flying Angel Campaign as a Gold sponsor. The sponsorship will be used to help fund the development of the Seafarers Happy-at-Sea App, which helps track seafarer welfare, book chaplain visits and order medicine. Overall, the campaign has raised £600,000 from 18 maritime organisations for the Mission.
